Black Tome Books Update

Both The Other World and Paris By Gaslight will be published in 2017 some time about the middle of the year. They will definitely be on the shelves before this year’s CONtraflow. No final decisions have been made yet as to which stories and poems will be included but everyone selected will be informed when the time comes.

The Other World Update

Just got in a story from Kirsten Corby! Getting closer to the point where this project will be completed. There’s still time to get in a submission for The Other World. We can still use both poetry and short stories although at this point, poetry is needed more than additional stories.

The Other World is an anthology of poetry and fiction about the fey set in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Poems and short stories should be sent to blacktomebooks [AT] mail.com.

I’d like to have this wrapped up by the end of the month but if you have a submission and you want to get it in, just drop me a line and give me an idea as to when you think you’ll have your submission completed. I don’t mind waiting a few more days if we can put out a book of the size and quality our readers have come to expect.

Cheers,

Brandon

The Other World

The contributor copies for Cairo By Gaslight have gone out and I’m declaring that project to be officially completed. Paris By Gaslight is currently open for submissions of steampunk and gaslamp fantasy set in Victorian era Paris and will be published in 2017.

The Other World has been re-opened through August 20th, 2016. Stories and poetry centered on the Fey and set in the 19th, 20th or 21st centuries are requested. The Other World is set to be published in January of 2017.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Updates

The copies of Cairo By Gaslight for the May 18th Book Signing/Book Reading have been ordered and are on the way to the library. Contributing authors present at the ceremony will receive their contributor’s copies then and the rest will receive theirs in the mail shortly after.

We have two new calls for submissions. Our next steampunk/gaslamp fantasy anthology, Paris By Gaslight, is being opened to submissions of poetry and fiction. The Other World is being re-opened in the hopes of fleshing the book out more. Submissions of urban fantasy (19th – 21st centuries) involving the Fey are requested, both poetry and fiction.

Projected date of publication for both books is January 2017.

Cairo By Gaslight and other projects

I want to take this opportunity to publicly apologize for the delay of our recent projects. We have a new source for book covers and will be moving forward as quickly as possible to complete the projects that have languished in indeterminacy. Cairo By Gaslight is the first project that will be completed as soon as humanly possible and then we’ll be moving on to The Other World and Space Pirates & Bounty Hunters. Emails will be going out to let people know if their submissions were accepted and to give them the chance to withdraw their submission from consideration if they’ve placed them elsewhere or if they’ve simply become impatient with the delays.

Please look to this space for further information.

“Winter” in Florida

Well of course I know there’s such a thing as winter. Just not in Florida.

Everyone knows Florida is a forlorn, steamy jungle, overrun with dinosaurs, sabertooth tigers and other megafauna, a place filled with vine-overgrown ziggurats and ancient stone temples, where crocodiles pad silently across the ancient cobblestone streets and large breasted amazon warriors capture the daring but foolish archaeologists who brave this antithesis of civilization seeking the tombs of ancient warrior kings and the necropoli of long-dead wizards.

Florida is a place overrun with man-eating megaflora and vile serpent-man cults that have survived since prehistoric times. It is a place where the spirits of winter hold no sway and not a single flake of snow would ever dare to touch the ground.

When the lost Ice Children of the Seelie and Unseelie Courts decide they have finally had enough of this realm and must at last return to Faerie, it is to Florida they go in which to find a place to die.
